Rehabilitation of the Performing Artist

Overview

Musicians, dancers, and other performing artists often experience repetitive overuse injuries because they use the same muscles repeatedly. Common injuries are tendonitis, labral tear in the hip, patella femoral pain, and impingement of the ankle. Musicians are more affected in their arms, shoulders, and neck. Both groups can have back problems.

Your Visit

At your first visit, you will be asked to bring your instrument with you to your physical therapy appointment when possible. If you are a dancer, please bring any shoes needed for your specific style of dance. We also have a dance floor and a\ballet barre to use during your appointment.

Your physical therapist will design an individualized therapeutic program and will work with you to restore function of joints and muscles and to improve and restore performance level.
