As individuals with Cerebral Palsy age, they may have new or changing needs related to muscle weakness, spasticity, pain, mobility, and new equipment or splinting needs. Our physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech language pathologists will work with you one-on-one to help address your needs and concerns related to your mobility, daily activities, swallowing, and/or communication. We specialize in facilitating transition to independent living, improving success with school, job, or volunteering, assessment and training of driving readiness and accessing transportation options. Our specialty programs include wheelchair seating and mobility evaluations, augmentative and alternative communication device evaluation and treatment, and FEES evaluation and dysphagia treatment. Additionally, we have a full time social worker that can assist with counseling or assisting with accessing various resources throughout the community.
At your visit, physical and/or occupational therapy will assess your strength, range of motion, spasticity, functional mobility, balance, and endurance. Speech therapy will assess your swallowing and/or communication abilities. Our therapists will address your current activities and routine as well as any recent changes or limitations. We will also address any equipment needs you have including new bracing/splinting needs, wheelchair assessment, or communication devices. Your rehabilitation will be focused on your specific needs and personal goals. Our therapists will provide you and your caregiver with an individualized exercise or activity program to perform at home or in the community.
