The Washington University School of Medicine’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). CAPTE is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as an accrediting agency for physical therapy programs leading to the DPT degree.
All states and territories of the United States and Washington, DC, require that applicants take and pass the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) as a requirement for licensure. To be eligible to apply for the NPTE, an individual must have a degree from a CAPTE accredited institution or have an education that has been determined to be substantially equivalent by a recognized credentialing agency.
The Washington University School of Medicine Program in Physical Therapy has determined that, as a result of its CAPTE accreditation, its DPT program curriculum meets the educational requirements to sit for the NPTE and to pursue licensure in all states and territories of the United States and Washington, DC.

Employment Rate
Each year, 100% of our DPT graduates are employed within six months of passing their licensure exam. The two year average is 100%.
National Physical Therapy Examination
To obtain a license to practice physical therapy in the United States a person must have a degree in physical therapy from an accredited physical therapist education program and pass the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE).
The two -year average for WU First-Time NPTE Passage is 93.6%.
