When it occurs, whether by injury, aging or disease, one can experience vertigo, nauseating dizziness, vision and balance problems effecting every area of life. Getting the right help is necessary to get back to an active lifestyle and reduce the risk of falls. At WashU Medicine Physical Therapy, our specialized team of physical therapists have advanced training or certifications in vestibular rehabilitation. Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialized form of physical therapy that focuses on the treatment of dizziness and balance. Symptoms related to your vestibular system can be complex and can significantly impact and limit daily function. The Clinic

At WashU, all of our clinicians hold doctorates in physical therapy (DPT) and more than half of them hold board-specialist certification in a specific area of practice. Our clinic employs residency and vestibular trained clinicians who specialize in treating patients with dizziness and balance symptoms.

Our Approach

Vestibular Rehabilitation is an effective, evidence-based exercise program geared towards your individual goals.

We provide one-on-one patient care at every appointment to answer all your questions and provide a variety of home exercises based upon the underlying condition, medical history, age, strength and mobility. Home exercises may include gaze stabilization exercises, balance exercises, habituation exercises to reduce dizziness with head motion, conditioning and gait training. We will establish a comprehensive rehabilitative plan to decrease your symptoms and help you return to your daily activities safely.
