Overview

Cycling is an excellent activity for all ages and activity levels. It is a great form of exercise and allows one to engage in the community in which they live. Whether you like to train outside, navigate new trails, or ride inside on a stationary bike or trainer, a properly fit bicycle is vital to avoiding injuries. To be a cyclist, individuals must have a certain amount of flexibility and stability to maintain postures for long durations. Whether you are an avid cyclist, weekend warrior, or just looking to increase your activity, cycling is a low-impact exercise with tremendous health benefits. However, certain positions you must adopt while cycling can increase discomfort or pain, especially if the bike does not fit you.

Do you feel back discomfort when you cycle? Do your hands go numb or notice increased neck pain while riding? Are your knees clicking while cycling? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, we can help. At WashU Medicine Physical Therapy, our Cycling Clinic is more than just a “Bike Fit.” Whether it is a mountain bike, road bike, commuter bike, or aero bike, the way your bike fits you will dictate your overall performance and comfort.

We have the knowledge of how the body is supposed to move and the training to make adjustments to your bike for you to achieve your best outcome. Whether it is your mountain bike, aero, or road bike, we have the tools necessary to improve your performance.
